“In this life time, I will work for youth ONLY, that is why I wake up every day” says Kingsley Bangwell. In 1995 at age 21 he started Youngstars Foundation in a local barber shop in Jos, Plateau state which has grown to have its headquarters in Abuja and an office in Accra Ghana. He works to build young people and strengthen youth organizations in the areas of democratic governance, entrepreneurship and leadership.
Since inception Youngstars has directly conducted over 60 workshops, facilitated over 500 stepdown workshops and hosted hundreds of radio and television programs. Youngstars conducted DESPLAY, the oldest annual youth democracy training program in Nigeria which wrapped up in its 10th year. Youngstars has also introduced Nigeria’ first political leadership preparatory program for youth called “Young Aspirants Leadership Fellowship – YALF”. They are currently piloting Nigeria’s first youth online television channel www.youthtvafrica.com Youngstars has also launched Thinking School Africa that holds every November in Dubai for youth on Innovations.
Kingsley Bangwell is an ASHOKA Fellow, a Young Global Leader of the World Economic Forum, UNDP Innovation Consultant, an Alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy Leadership School of Public Policy- Harvard University, a fellow of Yale University 21st Century Leadership Module, as well as a Fellow of the Stanford Democracy and Leadership Program, among others. He is a 2012 Alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Program – United States Government.
Between 2008 and 2011 he pastored the branch church of a local assembly and left visible transformation. He is well traveled and hosts a weekly family radio show with his wife in Abuja every Sunday 7pm on 99.9 Kiss FM titled Family Street. His 2020 dream is to build a world class youth development centre with hostel and training facilities in Nigeria.
