RAISE YOUTH AWARENESS, VOICE AND ACTION AGAINST CORRUPTION IN NIGERIA.
The Expression Debates Challenge is designed to be an annual platform that leverages the culture of citizen’s debates to stimulate and raise youth voices and participation in contemporary national issues. The 2017 edition shall focus on commemorating the United Nations 2017 International Anti-Corruption Day by providing a robust platform for youth to raise their voices and increase involvement in the fight against the endemic culture of corruption threatening the present and future generation of Africa.
The Expression 2017 will allow 36 student teams of 2 persons per team from different Nigeria tertiary institutions to emerge from 2 regional auditions to compete at the grand finale in Abuja. After the grand finale, in 2018 the debate series shall be produced into video content for airing on social media and partner television stations. A post-debate campaign tagged “I Choose Integrity” will be implemented to sustain engagements with undergraduates and students on how to curb endemic corruption in the educational sector.
Aside from winning cash prizes, the champions will embark on a campus based anti-corruption campaign and will also be supported to participate in a 1-week learning visit to any country with high anti-corruption culture.
Youngstars foundation along with EXD works to raise awareness, voice and action against corruption in Nigeria. The Expression Debates aims to use a National undergraduate debate challenge to arouse and nurture undergraduate initiatives to tackle corruption in the educational sector and larger society of Nigeria.
