THERE ARE 30 UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHT WHICH ONE DOES OUR SOCIETY NEED THE MOST AND WHY
Human rights are rights inherent to all human beings, whatever may be the nationality, of residents, sex, and national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, language, or any other status, and we are all equally entitled to our human rights without discrimination.
Universal human rights are often expressed and guaranteed by law, in the form of treaties customary international law, general principle and other sources of international law. There are thirty (30) different kinds of universal human rights which include free and equal in dignity and rights, right of freedom, right to life, liberty and security, right to be free from slavery, right to recognition, equally before the law and many more.
Among all the above listed universal human rights, the one that our society needs the most is the right to education, because education as a foundation for all is a very essential amble for national development and as well the development of the entire world. A word without education is like a world without future and a world without future has no vision for progress. An adage says “when an engineer makes a mistake in building a bridge, twenty thousand people dies, when a doctor makes a mistake, one person dies but when a teacher makes a mistake, the nation crumble. Every living being uses education either in a direct or indirect way; education is the surest way to transparency, accountability,, peace and unity and progress which is the backbone for societal development in the world. In the society where i came from, Nguru local government in Yobe state, Nigeria. This society is like a pit dug for everybeing to enter. This local government lacks the element of education at all stages and this is due to some resulting jeopardies.
firstly, insecurity: education a some of the universal right is supposed to be fundamentally and elementarily compulsory and free to all Nigerian and the people of Nguru are never excluded, and at higher level, it should be made available and accessible to all in the society and this is not made available, the resultant is insecurity, which the people of Nguru passes through. Taking it from the statistical findings, the people of Nguru are about one million in population, about sixty five percent are youth, twenty two percent are adults and thirteen percent are children and a land mark of 4027 square meters, with five primary school, three secondary school, and one higher education. Each of the primary school has about eight hundred to one thousand pupils and the secondary school has about one thousand, three hundred and fifty students, the primary school have about two hundred teachers, all combined and the secondary school has about two hundred and fifty teachers. Checking the statistics, it is very clear that the people of Nguru do not have proper education and the little ones who have may not have extensive learning due to infrastructural, materials and personnel problem. This is not applicable to the people of Nguru alone but the state and country as a whole.
Additionally, government negligence to education: the Nigeria government has neglected education in one way or the other; they have failed in establishing extensive educational policies that is failing to make education a free and compulsory thing at a fundamental and elementary stage as enacted by the United Nations on human rights. They have also failed to make available professional, technical and higher education in our society and the country as a whole. With the little they provided, our lapses in the administration formulations and infrastructures and material put in places. taking another look on the people of Nguru society, the little educational structures available have no or little chairs, the pupil and students mostly sit on the ground, even the classrooms are now being shared with nomadic farmers who used as a place to rear their cattle, materials are in a short supply and most important, the teachers are not worthy to be called teachers because they are illiterate as well.
Further, education shall be directed to be full development of human personality and to be strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nation, country, society, racial or religious group and or culture groups and shall further the activities of the united Nation for the maintenance of peace. In the society where I base on education has not been fully directed to develop human personality integrity and dignity, as the people of Nguru lacks human respects at the fullest, no moral respect for elderly ones, parents now lost faith in their children due to disobedient. Youth fail in all area due to poor understanding. One of the most shameful of all is when teachers starts educating their students in using their modern tongues. Every student sees their mother language as the main sources to teaching, they now sees that to imbibe the western education is a timid thing using English. A full grown man who had his education outside the state is seen as a scallywag because of the differences between them, which is one of the reason why friendship and relationships are never cordial, religious institution now lost faith in education because of the improperly of the scheme are now passed to the people who now pay no or little value to education.
Conclusively, education is very important universal human rights that I think every continents of the world most obey the United Nations in making it a free and compulsory thing both at the fundamental, elementary and higher stage of education. The Nigerian government, ministry of education, religious institution etc. should see it as their obligation to put things straight. Youth, children should be given enlightenment not just by electronic means but also by verbal means that is one to one means. Parents should also do seriously the informal means of education and convince their words to see reasons for education. Most importantly, federal, state and local government should go into partnership with private hands to foster the development of education at a very accelerating rate in the country. My society can never be exempted from this wonderful role education plays in the world today, come to talk of technology, science, entertainment, sport, business etc. education is the most important universal human right our society need the most.
