Opportunity for Young Writers!

Are you young and Nigerian? Are you passionate about seeing Nigeria’s democracy grow? Have you been proactive in promoting positive and active youth participation in building our democracy? Do you want to be part of a team which would contribute in a strategic way towards positive post election youth engagement in Nigeria and Africa at large? If yes, here is your chance!!

 

We are looking for 3 young prolific writers who have practical experiences in youth participation in democracy and good governance in Nigeria. These 3 young writers shall co author the After Count Actioniers Handbook which is to be used as a handbook for the After Count Youth Post Election video being produced by Youngstars Foundation with support from NDI, IRI, NED/USAID.

 

The After Count film is a 40minutes video being produced to encourage youths to sustain engagement with elected officials and to also empower them with the required tools on how to effectively engage with elected officials to deliver on their campaign promises. The film shall be distributed nation wide and within Africa free of charge after its launch in January 2012.
This handbook is to capture the different messages the film conveys and also show in practical ways how young people can engage in post election interactions with their elected officials to improve their communities. Authors shall be expected to draw their writings from the context of the film script and also use illustrations and examples to further buttress their messages.

 

Benefits:
Ø  The 3 Authors shall each enjoy a token fee of $300 each.
Ø  All authors shall also feature during the film launch in Abuja in January 2012.
Ø  Authors shall also enjoy global profiling this project shall enjoy.

 

Eligibility:
Ø  21-35years of age and Nigerian.

 

Application Modality:
Send your CV, Passport Photograph and a 1 page essay describing an activity or project you have done in the last 2 years that contributed to democracy and good governance in Nigeria.
